Our accredited instructor members who are part of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders®- a community dedicated to transforming how we have conversations around mental health and reduce stigma- will guide you through the Youth Mental Health First Aid Course®.

Together, we can create mentally healthy, supportive environments at home, in schools, colleges, youth groups, and communities.

About me

I live in Brighton with my family and feel incredibly fortunate to be by the sea — it’s a setting that naturally promotes calm and balance. Running is a key part of how I look after my own mental health, alongside reading and spending time with friends. These moments of reflection and connection help ground me and reinforce my belief in the importance of mental wellbeing for all.

I have been teaching History in secondary schools since 2007, bringing with me a breadth of experience across both the state and independent sectors, in co-educational and single-sex settings. My career in education began in 2006 as a learning support assistant, and after qualifying as a teacher, I was quickly drawn to the pastoral side of school life. I became a Head of Year early on, and it was in this role that I discovered my deep passion for supporting young people beyond the classroom.

Since 2020, I have been working at an all-girls independent day and boarding school, where I am currently Assistant Head Pastoral and Senior Mental Health Lead. I am also a Deputy Safeguarding Lead and qualified to act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). In these roles, I work closely with students and colleagues to create a culture where mental health is valued, supported, and actively promoted. I believe that nurturing emotional wellbeing is not only essential to academic and personal success, but a vital part of preparing young people for life beyond school.

Sarah Le Grice

About me

I am a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience, committed to delivering holistic care that nurtures both physical and mental well-being. My nursing career began within the NHS, working across adult emergency and medical units. Seeking new challenges and experiences, I later spent 16 years in South East Asia, where I was Lead School Nurse at a large British international day school.

Throughout my career, I have been particularly passionate about integrating mental health education with the same emphasis traditionally placed on physical first aid. I believe that early intervention, understanding, and support are crucial—especially when working with young people. As a mother to two young adults, I understand first-hand the complexities of growing up and the importance of a supportive environment.

Since 2022, I have been the Head of Health Centres – Lead Nurse at a large co-educational boarding school in Brighton. In addition to overseeing the medical provision, I am also Co-School Mental Health Lead and Deputy Safeguarding Lead, supporting students daily with their physical and emotional health

Outside of work, I value activities that support my own well-being. I enjoy creative pursuits such as card-making and exploring new recipes. I also like to stay active—my latest personal challenge is learning to play Padel. Most importantly, I cherish spending time with family and friends, and make it a priority to stay connected with the people who matter most.
